About Us

I wanted to take a minute to let you know how much I appreciate your materials. I am a special education teacher serving students in grades K-4. Your materials are accessible to my students, provide fun hands-on activities, and make teaching SOL based skills so easy for me. Thank you, Thank you , Thank you!

My second graders have thoroughly enjoyed your booklets. It has been very difficult to find materials that are written in language appropriate for first, second and third graders. These booklets made the content come alive. Many times I have seen my students reading over and over their own copies. I know they know and understand this content. Thank you for allowing me to copy the booklets for my class.

I have been using Fun Stuff SOL Books in my second grade class. They teach all of the Social Studies SOLS in a way the child can understand. I especially like the comparison charts in the back of the Native American and famous American books. The fact that they can be reproduced for the classroom is extremely helpful. I can't wait for Barbara to publish a book on each SOL.

Our principal purchased a set of books on the Indians, Explorers, and the Famous Americans for all of our Grade 1-5 teachers. She was that impressed with the books. I used them to teach my students, grades 2 & 3. They especially loved the books about the Indians and Explorers.

For my third graders, I divided the students into small groups and gave each group a book for one explorer. They then read the book and answered questions about "their explorer" that I had given them. Then they taught the other groups about "their explorer."

My second graders loved hearing the stories of the different Indian tribes. We read these and made a comparison chart showing differences in homes, etc., adding to it as we read each one.

Some of us have also used the timeline of famous people. We are teaching these people by having the students put the individual facts about each person in chronological order. We have the timeline on a hall bulletin board that we have entitled "Social Studies Trivia." As we teach about these famous people, the cards will be placed on the timeline. Each week we give the students trivia questions to answer. Those answering correctly get their names placed in a bag and free ice cream winners are chosen on Friday. We are just beginning this and already the students are so excited. It is nice to see them excited about Social Studies!

As you can see, we are really using these materials and hope that they keep coming. We need all the help we can get to motivate and excite our students.

Money and Me is a must for teaching primary economics! My third graders loved the story, and I loved how the Standards of Learning vocabulary was so cleverly integrated. The references to ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Jamestown were a great reinforcement and review. We loved making the checkbooks and the interview activity was great. Thanks for helping make learning and teaching fun!
